Forward – John Lewis

Launched in September 2015, ‘Forward’ is a film and campaign for John Lewis I was Producer on with the production company Blue Monday.

The film was created to celebrate the opening of their new Birmingham store inside the refurbished Grand Central station, except rather than focusing on the development of the store, we came up with the ideas to show what it means to be from Birmingham by finding a group of stories that identified the city’s spirit. Filming took place across Birmingham, Barcelona and around Finland.

As well as the long version of the film, the campaign consisted of a shorter highlight film, a series of promotional instagram videos focusing on each contributor and a series of images.

The short film received over 180,000 views, most of which was in the first couple of weeks and the accompanying twitter hashtag #forwardbirmingham became nationally trending for 2 days. We received coverage on BBC and ITV news, as well as press in the Guardian on conductor Alpesh Chauhan.

Was a pleasure to work with Blue Monday and John Lewis on this and we hope it awakened people’s interest and love for the Birmingham.
